Wellbeing and New Beginning

Our resident Mayurs (Hindi for 'peacock') are rather confused not to see any guests around, as they have grown used to mingling with our visitors as both humans and birds enjoy the beautiful gardens of Neeleshwar Hermitage together. These new additions to our family are now 8 months old and have become very much a part of the scene here, fitting in happily with everyone else. Although we have peacocks visiting us from nearby forested land, the Hermitage duo do not join them, preferring to spend their time with our staff. We, and they, sincerely hope things will improve soon, and guests will return to enjoy the unique environment we and Mother Nature have created together here on the lovely coast of Malabar.

The peacock is of course viewed as being extremely auspicious, being the national bird of India, the mount of Saraswati, the goddess of learning and culture, and the symbol of Lord Krishna, God of love, who wears the glorious peacock feather in his crown. All in all, we feel we have been blessed by this addition to our family during these unpleasant times, and take their presence as an encouragement not to lose heart and give in to useless pessimism.

ABChapri Retreats has always set out to offer peaceful and mindful sanctuaries where our guests can switch off from the outside world and connect with their inner self. Although the current situation is unprecedented, and will certainly endure for some as yet unknown time, we believe it will not be too long,  and will certainly do nothing to damage the ethos of service and well-being that lies at the heart of every ABChapri Retreats endeavour.

For those concerned about upcoming bookings, we remain available at all times to assist our valued guests, Travel partners, and well-wishers. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any help with your travel plans, rescheduling your trip or have any other concerns. Making contact is a very good way for all of us to keep all our spirits up in these times when we are unable to meet face to face in the normal manner; the mutually supportive bonds of friendship are very precious.

We would like to thank you all for your great support during these difficult times and send you our best wishes for your continued good health.

"On the unexplored northern part of the Malabar coast and flanked by a freshwater lagoon is this near-perfect heaven of peace and pampering. The cottages are designed and built along the traditional fisherman's thatched huts but each on with enough comforts to keep a five-star groupie enthralled."
