Sukoon Water Safari
Arrive at the beautiful city of Srinagar. At the airport our team from Sukoon will welcome you warmly with a garland of fresh flowers and assist you with your luggage and help you into the Air conditioned Toyota MUV. Once you are comfortable you shall be driven to Sukoon where you will be welcomed with a drink and escorted to your well appointed living space in the houseboat. Before dusk you will be taken for a Shikara ride (Kashmiri Boat) to Dal Lake. After an enchanting evening at the Lake you will be escorted back to Sukoon where a delightful dinner awaits you. After supper you retire for the day in your room.
As you wake up bed tea shall be served to you at your behest. Once you have freshened up a hearty breakfast awaits you. Post breakfast we shall take you through a beautiful guided tour of the old city. The walk begins at Zaina Kadal, a bridge to the living, breathing museum of Islamic architecture. Tramp through the old quarters of Srinagar to the grand mosque of Jami Masjid and later at the Shah Hamadan mosque. Lunch shall be indulged in at ‘Ahdoos’, an authentic Kashmiri restaurant in the old city.
The Last stop on our itinerary is the Zaina Kadal Market to soak up the atmosphere of this typical local market. We will then aim to reach Shankarachariya Temple before sunset for the glorious view it offers. After sundown you will be escorted back to Sukoon where your shall have dinner and retire for the day.
Have bed tea as you wake and post breakfast we begin the Sukoon Zabarwan Climb. This is a superb hill walk offering great views of Dal Lake and the surrounding hills. The Hike is moderate-strenuous and anyone with an average level of fitness can do it. We will drive to the place where the trail begins. The trail originates from a Sufi shrine near a small village and
terminates at a small cave where the Sufi saint is believed to have meditated for several years. We will be accompanied by local guides, who will also host our lunch when we finish the walk. This person belongs to a Rishi family of the village; he is very proud of his origins and takes great delight in showing visitors the scenic beauty of his birthplace. We then head back to Sukoon after sundown for dinner and retire for the day.
After Bed Tea and Breakfast you checkout from Sukoon and you will be assisted into the Toyota MUV. Today we begin the water safari, Dal Lake to Manasbal Lake. Our water safari starts with a Classic Moghul and Raj-era journey from Dal Lake to Manasbal Lake. Lounging in special Shikaras (Kashmiri Boats) with two oarsmen we will float over the famous river Jhelum, visit ancient parts of Hagen and enter Manasbal Lake, which is famous for its water lilies and lotus flowers. Overnight we will camp on the pristine shore of Manasbal Lake. Sukoon tents have a double or twin beds with comfortable mattress, Kashmiri carpets, and large windows to enjoy the fabulous views from your bed! Each tent has its own Toilet and Shower tent just at the back. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner will be served. We spend the night camping with a bonfire!
After Bed Tea we take a gentle walk along the shore of Manasbal to visit the local villages. Then we head back to the camp for a hot breakfast post which we drive to the 8th century Shiva Temple complex at Naranag. We then take a walk through the forest along the beautiful river (Tributary to River Sind) and have a picnic lunch at a scenic spot. Post lunch we drive to Taj Vivanta, Srinagar for dinner and retire to the well appointed room.
Post breakfast at Taj Vivanta, you shall be assisted into a Toyota MUV and escorted to Srinagar Airport.
