Cradled between swaying coconut palms and the timeless rhythm of the Arabian Sea, Neeleshwar Hermitage offers a sanctuary where nature, tradition, and inner stillness meet.
Sattva by the Sea is a thoughtfully curated 7-night exclusive Yoga and Ayurveda Retreat, designed to restore balance, vitality, and inner harmony in a setting of rare tranquillity.
The retreat is hosted across 18 elegant cottages, reserved exclusively for the group and thoughtfully spread across three distinct categories. These include 3 Sea View Plunge Pool Cottages, 4 Sea View Cottages, and 11 Garden View Cottages. Each cottage is airy, spacious, and designed in traditional Keralan style, with open-to-elements bathrooms that invite guests to feel deeply connected to nature.
Yoga and meditation sessions are guided by Neeleshwar Hermitage’s own experienced Yoga Master and full-time yoga team, offering authentic instruction rooted in traditional practice. Sessions take place in the covered Yoga Shala or on the garden terrace, both offering uninterrupted ocean views and accompanied by the calming natural soundtrack of waves and sea breeze.
Each guest receives a personal consultation with the resident Vaidya (Ayurvedic doctor), who is available throughout the retreat to discuss individual health concerns and wellbeing goals. The programme includes four authentic Ayurvedic treatments per person, using time-honoured therapies, herbal oils, and holistic techniques to detoxify, rejuvenate, and calm the nervous system.
Mindful nourishment lies at the heart of the retreat experience. All meals are freshly prepared vegetarian cuisine, thoughtfully tailored in consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor, your group leader or Yoga Master, and our chefs, ensuring alignment with Ayurvedic principles and individual needs. Ayurvedic drinks and herbal infusions are served throughout the day, with eggs offered at breakfast for those who prefer them.
Cultural immersion enriches the journey and includes witnessing the sacred Theyyam ritual dance, a guided village walk, participation in a traditional Aarti ceremony, and a serene sunset backwater cruise aboard the Lotus Houseboat.
The retreat concludes with a special farewell dinner hosted on the Garden Terrace or at Meenakshi Restaurant, offering beautiful panoramic views of the ocean. As the evening unfolds, guests dine to the soothing sound of the sea on repeat, accompanied by a local classical music performance, creating a soulful and memorable closing to the retreat.
The ideal periods for this retreat are April to mid-May and October to mid-December, offering pleasant weather, lush surroundings, and fewer crowds. These off-peak seasons allow guests to enjoy uninterrupted wellness practices and cultural experiences while benefiting from enhanced value and exclusivity.
Sattva by the Sea is ideal for yoga groups and wellness seekers drawn to authenticity, personalised healing, and a deeply restorative journey guided by experienced resident practitioners, ancient wisdom, and the calming presence of the ocean.
