Sustainable & Responsible Tourism

At ABChapri Retreats, our purpose extends far beyond hospitality, we exist to nurture the well-being of people, society, and our Mother Earth.

As custodians of precious land, we are deeply committed to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly environment that benefits both our guests and the surrounding communities.

For over two decades, we have proudly upheld a local employment policy, with 95% of our team drawn from neighbouring villages. This close-knit ABChapri “family” continues to grow with us, learning, sharing, and upholding the values of care, respect, and stewardship that define our retreats.

Our farm-to-table philosophy ensures that produce is locally sourced, guaranteeing maximum freshness while minimizing food miles and strengthening the regional economy. Through thoughtfully curated tours and experiences, we invite guests to connect with local culture and village life — creating meaningful exchanges that leave lasting, positive footprints for all.

We take great pride in our No-Plastic Policy. Since our inception, we have served water filtered through advanced reverse osmosis systems, presented in traditional copper vessels or glass. All wastewater is meticulously treated, recycled, and used to enrich the land, never to pollute rivers, lakes, or seas.

Ever striving to reduce our ecological footprint, we incorporate local building materials and traditional techniquesacross our projects. Looking ahead, we aim to expand the use of solar-powered lighting across all ABChapri properties by 2028, further aligning our operations with our vision of a sustainable future.

At ABChapri Retreats, responsibility, respect, and regeneration guide every step we take, ensuring that each guest experience contributes to the harmony of people, place, and plane

Being Responsible.

All the shampoos, conditioners, and lotions we use are fully organic and sourced from KAMA Ayurveda , the leading environmentally responsible provider of Ayurvedic products. They are bottled here at Neeleshwar Hermitage and Qayaam Gah in our handmade ceramic bottles, which are thoroughly washed and reused, making them both sustainable and recyclable. In this simple yet effective way, we express our respect for nature and her abundant gifts, and we hope our example gently inspires our guests to do the same.

We follow this philosophy across all our properties from the serene mountains of Kashmir to the tranquil shores of Kerala. Our commitment includes a strict no-plastic policy, the consistent use of locally sourced materials, and an operational rhythm that mirrors nature’s own cycles. Each year, we close our resorts for approximately 45 days, allowing the entire property to rest and rejuvenate. This period of hibernation reflects the universal balance of activity and repose that governs life, day and night, sleep and wakefulness, winter and spring, ensuring renewal from within.

As stewards of the local land, we see it not only as our responsibility but also as a genuine pleasure to do all we can to nurture an eco-friendly and harmonious environment.
